Since 1991 Guy Richardson has worked alongside the highly respected Animals in Need Charity to help dog owners.
He assists dog owners who find themselves the subject of Civil or Criminal prosecution. This service extends to the rehabilitation and further training of owners and dogs seized under the provisions of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 when these dogs are returned to their owners subject to strict control orders issued by the courts.
In the last 3 years he has performed behavioural or breed "type"assessments on more than 77 Pit Bull Type dogs, 1 Dogo Argentino and 30 other breeds of dog acting on the instructions of solicitors.
He has given evidence many times in both Section 1 and 3 Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 prosecutions at hearings and trials in the Magistrates Courts, Crown Courts and in Appeals to the Crown Court, nationwide.
Guy has 34 years professional expertise dealing with dogs. He served as a Police Officer with Merseyside Police for 20 years, 17 of those years working as an operational Police Dog Handler.
He has operated his own, dog training / behaviour centre for 21 years and has assessed thousands of aggressive / dangerous dogs over the years.
Acting as an independent expert he has prepared detailed, comprehensive reports for both prosecution and defence cases.
He has a thorough knowledge of the law in relation to dogs, in particular the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and 1997.
